The beginning of a year is traditionally when people set new life goals.  People consider improving their lives, losing weight, and developing better personal relations.  It is a time to reflect on the past and determine how to make the fresh year enhanced compared to the last.  The previous year was rough financially, so here are a few tips to keep your financial New Year’s resolutions on track.

Slash Careless Costs

Choose one or two business expenses where regular spending is necessary.  Then check out alternatives to the spending.   For instance, if office supplies are purchased on the fly and not in bulk, then you may be wasting costs.  Compare prices and buy from big box stores for it may save you money in the end.  You will be surprised to find out how much money this saves each month.

Track Daily Spending

Too many business owners get caught up in the big picture and do not take the proper time to watch the expenses on a regular basis.  Is the cleaning service you hired cost too much in comparison to others?  Do you pay for a coffee service when you could just purchase a coffee machine for your employees and save money on the daily spending?  Is the software your business uses to keep track of clients, hours, and payroll costing too much?  Would it be cheaper to buy different software to handle the same duties?  You need to check the daily spending and find ways to manage it on a regular basis.
